Origins
The Lykoi, commonly known as the wolf cat or werewolf cat, is a natural mutation from a domestic short-haired cat. The mutation has occurred in domestic cats over the last 20 years. The breed was developed in the United States, specifically in Vonore, Tennessee by Patti Thomas.
Lykoi cats vary from completely covered in hair to partially hairless. Sometimes, they may lose all of their hair, giving them a look similar to a Sphynx, but it grows back. The hair coat is unique in appearance as it resembles the coat of an opossum when mostly coated. Lykoi cats are said to be friendly and unchallenging in their behaviour. They display a high level of affection for their owners.
Lykoi cats are playful and enjoy a variety of toys. They are adaptable and can comfortably live an indoor life. They are also known to shed a lot when older, but regrow their hair later in life depending on the season.
Lykoi cats are known for their friendly and affectionate nature. They form strong bonds with their human family and are known to be loyal companions.
Lykoi cats require minimal grooming due to their unique coat. Regular vet check-ups are essential to ensure their well-being. They also require a balanced diet and plenty of playtime to keep them physically and mentally stimulated.
